iPhone Duo Preorders: Carrier Deals Can Cut the $1,999 Foldable to $799
AT&T’s trade-in offer reaches $799, while other carriers advertise savings up to $1,000. Compare plan requirements, credits and shipping estimates before ordering.

The iPhone Duo’s $1,999 starting price makes carrier terms a central part of the buying decision. AT&T advertises the lowest price in these preorder offers: $799 after up to $1,200 in bill credits, with a qualifying trade-in and plan. Other carriers bring the price to $999 under their own conditions. Those figures aren’t simple discounts at checkout; most depend on service commitments and credits spread across monthly bills.

Start with the conditions, not the headline price
Preorders opened Oct. 16 for Apple’s first foldable iPhone, a passport-style device. Its listed price climbs to $3,199 for a configuration with 2TB of storage. Apple’s initial preorder inventory sold out, with its next available orders then estimated for late January. Carrier availability was earlier: estimates ranged from mid-November at Xfinity Mobile to December at other providers. Those are estimates reported at the time, so check the current delivery window before placing an order.

The difference between a carrier’s advertised price and what a buyer pays depends on eligibility. Trade-in value, plan choice, a new service line, and the way bill credits are paid can all affect the final cost. A credit spread across 24 or 36 months also works differently from an instant reduction: customers who leave early may not receive the full advertised amount.

AT&T has the lowest listed price
AT&T’s offer can reduce the Duo by up to $1,200 through 36 monthly bill credits. To qualify for the full amount, customers need a trade-in phone worth at least $230 and an AT&T Elite 2.0 or Premium 2.0 plan. The offer page lists a starting price of $799; taxes and fees may add to the cost.

Customers moving from another carrier may also qualify for an AT&T Visa Reward card worth up to $800 toward paying off their old contract. Signing up for a new line online brings another $200 off, according to the deal details. These are separate conditions to check before comparing the offer with another provider. AT&T’s preorder estimate was early December.

Other carrier offers start at $999
T-Mobile lists the Duo for as low as $999, with up to $1,000 in savings through monthly bill credits. The offer requires an eligible trade-in or a new line with a number transfer on an Experience Beyond plan. The overview also names Go5G Next as an eligible plan for the trade-in offer. Some configurations were estimated to ship by mid-December. Customers switching carriers, trading in a phone and activating a new line may qualify for a Virtual Prepaid Mastercard worth up to $800.
Xfinity Mobile’s $999 price requires a qualifying trade-in and a new Mobile Plus line for new customers, or eligibility through its Diamond tier. Existing Mobile Plus customers who aren’t Diamond members may get the phone for as low as $1,499 with a trade-in. Xfinity applies the savings as 36 monthly bill credits, and its earliest listed shipping estimate was mid-November. Diamond eligibility is limited to customers with at least ten years of service or four Xfinity services.
Verizon advertises up to $1,000 off through 36 monthly bill credits with an eligible trade-in and a new myPlan line. Another option is a free Apple Watch Series 12 or iPad, delivered through bill credits, when a customer pays full price for a 256GB Duo, selects an eligible plan and adds a qualifying service line. Verizon was waiving activation fees, listed as a $40 saving, for new customers and Verizon Loyalty members. Its estimated shipping window began in early December.
Buying through Apple adds trade-in and payment options
Apple lists the phone at $1,999 and offers up to $885 in immediate trade-in credit for an eligible iPhone. Its listed maximum values vary by model: $885 for an iPhone 17 Pro Max, $610 for an iPhone 16 Pro Max, $455 for an iPhone 15 Pro Max and $360 for an iPhone 14 Pro Max. The oldest model listed for trade-in is iPhone 13, with a maximum value of $175. Actual credit depends on the device.
Apple trade-in credit can go toward a carrier offer, Apple Card Monthly Installments or Apple Upgrade. The latter is a Klarna-powered leasing option, with the Duo starting at $57.99 per month on a 24-month term, before taxes and trade-in credit. At the end, customers can buy the phone, upgrade or return it.
For the lowest advertised price, AT&T leads, but only for buyers who meet its trade-in and plan requirements and are comfortable receiving credits over time. Shoppers who prefer to avoid a carrier plan should compare Apple’s immediate trade-in value with the full price and monthly payment options. In either case, confirm the exact device value, plan eligibility and delivery estimate before ordering.
